The Baby Steps Challenge

I thought our first challenge should be a fairly short and simple one. Nattie often talked about taking "baby steps." So, combined with her beloved Mt. To Be Read, I decided on The Baby Steps Challenge. We cannot possibly read everything we want to. We don't have time. ((My husband would file for divorce))

So, take a baby step. Or 2. Or 3.

Oct, Nov, Dec and then we leap into a new year. Before that new year greets us, we shall knock 3 books off the pile.

This can work two ways.

Option A. Pick 3 books you own but have not read and read them before 2008.
Option B. Pick 3 books you have on a To Be Read list and read them before 2008.

If you have a blog and want to be linked as a participant, please, send me your information, and I will get a list up in the sidebar. Feel free to share your choices and your thoughts on those choices.

Happy Reading!

Heather

I'm in! I'll post my book choices on my blog: http://shetreadssoftly.blogspot.com/
I always enjoyed Nattie's encouragement to read those Mt. To Be Read stacks and this will be a wonderful tribute to her love of reading.

I'm in - yeah! Since I don't have a blog yet (how could I ever handle my own blog when I can't even figure out how to comment?!), I'll post my choices here. All of them are books that were Nattie's that I hadn't read yet.

1. Embroidered Truths by Monica Ferris (finished today, 10/20)
2. Sins and Needles, also by Monica Ferris
3. something by D.E. Stevenson (Nattie's mom gave me the 13 D.E. Stevenson books that Nattie had collected; I'll pick one of those)

Completed two out of three for this and reviews are up for;

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
The Twenty One Balloons Rene du Pene

I have changed my third read due to reviews discouraging my original choice which was Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.

I will be reading The Hours by Michael Cunningham (1999 Pulitzer and 1999 PEN/Faulkner.

The simplicity of this reading challenge appeals to me. I'm not sure about the best way to set it up on my new blogsite so I just kind of did one of those best-way-I-could-figure things (it's in the left side bar about midway down plus I mentioned it in an entry for today). My 3 books are:

"Duty First" by Ed Ruggero - I'm currently reading this and almost done but since it's a 3-mo/3-book challenge & we're now in November I figured it's appropriate.

"Care of the Soul" by Thomas Moore

"Love & Respect" by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

I have completed this challenge in memory of your friend Nattie. I did not have the privilege of knowing her but I have dedicated my reading to her memory. I chose to read widely in the hope that others may be inspired to try out new horizons!

My three reads were;
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (graphic novel telling of a growing up in Iran)
The Twenty One Balloons Rene du Pene Newbery winner 1950
The Hours Michael Cunningham Pulitzer 1999
Please see reviews at the following;
